In Chicago, its the Bears market.

The fact is that Chicago is a Bears town. Not Bulls, not Cubs nor White Sox.

Chicago Bears is probably the most underrated team in NFL, it does not draw attention like Patriot, Colts, Falcons, Eagles etc. However, it has proved to be one of the best team in NFL with a better record than all the above teams.

Chicago wants its favorite team to be in the Super Bowl so bad and this year we are a step closer.

The key to the Bears success will be its Defense, as it always has been.

Go Bears…

iPhone

The much awaited iPhone has finally arrived. Steve Jobs announced it at the Macworld.

You can get a closer look at it in this video

iPhone will be available from June’07 and I think its going to be very successfull, its first look made me want to buy it.

People have been second guessing the iPhone’s design but Apple has beaten their wildest imaginations. It has the cool factor written all over it.

iPhone is much ahead of its time, hence no competion and the best part is that you finally don’t need to carry both your cell and an iPod.

I am not selling my Apple Shares anytime soon and yeah I am very proud of predicting the right time to buy it.

YaWho?

Two of the top most activities on internet are email and search. Yahoo’s search was always second to Google and Gmail is closing ground by providing faster service and more free storage than Yahoo.

While Google has revolutionized advertisement on internet, making more money than ever, Yahoo announced lower forecasts.

Yahoo is not a complete loser, it has had its own share of sucess.
– Google recently closed “Google Answer” because it could not appeal to people as much as “Yahoo Answer”
– Yahoo Games is a big hit, Yahoo Widgets are better than Google’s.
– Yahoo messenger is much more famous and so is Yahoo Finance.

The bottom line is that YAHOO is losing ground in the Email and Search areas and cannot seem to demonstrate leadership in new technologies. I suggest Yahoo should get more original and stop playing the catch up game with google.

Webtop or Deskweb

Webtop is a new term floating around for applications that traditionally used to be on your desktop, but now can be seen and used on the web, thus making it available from any computer in any part of the world.

Since the Ajax hype, everyone is building webtops. eg. Google Calendar, Google Spreadsheets, NetVibes etc.

But there are also tools developed that can sit on your desktop and show you all the information that normally used to be accessed on the web. eg. Google Desktop, Yahoo widgets. I like to call these as Deskweb application, opposite of Webtop.

It seems like redudant work, so why do we have two different trends going on?. My guess is that some users prefer web while some prefer desktop application and may be some like both, and some have no clue about either 🙂

I predict that, instead of creating different applications showing same information, future applications will come with flexibility of converting your webtop to a deskweb and vice-versa, making everyone happy.

New Don

There was never a doubt in my mind that the old Don would always be far better than the new Don, but for me the real question was would the new Don be able to keep the audience happy at the end of the movie.

I saw the movie recently and I was quite happy with the overall movie.

Shahrukh Khan was real good but no match for Amitabh Bachhan. The new movie is slick and modern with all modern settings. It has an added twist in the end which is the only part that differs from the original movie. Overall, its a timepass movie.

Paes and Damm won Men’s Doubles at U.S. Open 06

U.S. Open 2006 concluded today. Federer and Sharapova took the honors in the individual events.

Other highligths of this tournament have been
– Agassi closed his 21 year career after making an interesting run in this tournament.
– Navratilova closed her pro career with 59th Grand Slam title after winning Mixed Double.

Paes and Damm won Men’s Doubles. Paes won 4th Grand Slam title and Damm enjoys his first.

Though not much emphasis was given to this by the press, I think it is a good achievement and deserves accolades.
